Ghost in the shell

So i finally got around to watching some Anime since i have been lazing around doing nothing but playing Terraria and Skyrim. I always wanted to watch ghost in the shell but sadly never got around to doing it until today.

This movie is nothing i expected it to be, yet it was so much more. I honestly wished it was longer, not just a mere one hour and twenty minutes. The movie itself does not waste a single second, every minute was pure enjoyment and was extremely dedicated to propelling the story forward. Ghost in the Shell did not feel rushed and they even managed to take you on a tour of a neo tokyo with wonderful music in the background. The atmosphere was nearly always intense and somehow or rather kept me on the edge of my seat.

The story is obviously original (It was practically the inspiration for The matrix series for god's sake) and was intriguing and mind bending. I didn't understand some parts of the movie truthfully speaking and got mixed up with the names for which sector was which. (Inner embarrassment unleashed!)

The characters themselves were kind of mysterious and nothing much was known other than the fact that they were cyborgs, which is why the movie does not need to explain why they are there, since they are 'police officers'. I found that i loved Motoko the best, and there were quite alot of philosophical sayings thrown here and there which added to the intense 'detached atmosphere'. The bad assery in this film is almost second to none although i wished that they had added more action scenes. Still great nonetheless.

This movie has been hailed as a classic by anime fans and i can see why. Although it is not perfect, it is still utterly amazing in its own right. A definite must watch for sure!

My enormous stupidity (Why you have to think clearly)

Alright so the school season is over and almost everyone is scrambling around to get a part-time job. Maybe to buy that ps3 game you wanted or a new iphone so you can look absolutely snazzy. Regardless, we all want money.

So here's the story, recently i sent my particulars to this job which i saw on gumtree. It was something like pasting stickers for eight dollars per hour. PASTING STICKERS FOR EIGHT FUCKING DOLLARS. I was like 'yeah i'm lovin this' and alerted them that i was interested. Since i was practically stalking the website i got an immediate reply and they asked me to go down for an interview asap. BUT i had a class barbecue later that evening and the meeting place was far.

So guess what i did.

I said no. I said no to the eight dollars i could have earned by pasting fucking stickers. All because my priorities were not straight. I had a golden chance and it completely slipped through my miserable fingers.

Moral of the story, a good chance doesn't come so easily so if it does, just reach out and grab it. There is no such thing as a right time. Take it now or regret it later, like what i am doing now.

Log Horizon Episode 1: First impressions

Now, when we hear 'Stuck in an online world' we instantly compare it to the only anime which has been made using this genre, which is obviously Sword Art Online. Made in 2012, SAO shook the anime world to its core for several reasons. One, an anime made using this idea is incredibly difficult to execute. I have watched other series such as Hacksign and didn't like it quite as much as SAO.

Back in 2012, sword art online was something new and fresh for us otaku's and as a result, gained an immensely huge fanbase. Many people state that it became overrated but i personally disagree with them because you can't judge that an anime is good or bad based on their popularity. For example, i am not a big fan of mecha series and as a result, i did not find Gurren Lagann as enjoyable as it was potrayed to be.

Continuing on, i found SAO's animation style very flashy. The boss fights were extremely intense and the main characters were somewhat overpowered. Of course the part about overpowered characters are relatively common in the game world and i was quite happy that SAO took that in consideration by making some characters into 'beaters' meaning pro-gamers who had a large amount of experience behind them. I thought that it made the series much better. The romance was a plus point as well. However i think that SAO had alot of untapped potential and many unexplored elements other than survival.

Which brings me to Log Horizon. After the first episode, i was immediately categorizing the differences between this newer series and sword art online. I found that Log Horizon starts off on a less serious note, and instead of the main characters starting off at level 1, they start off at level 90. I know you must be thinking that they would be so overpowered that the series would become bad then you are wrong. Although the premise of 'stuck in an online world' may not be new, it is safe to say that Log Horizon is executed very differently in terms of both plot and character development. However i found that log horizon's animation is far below that of sword art online which made me a little disappointed.

The bottom line is, do not compare Log Horizon with Sword art online because it is quite obvious that they are vastly different in terms of setting, plot and characters although they are using the same premise. I am not being biased either and i'm a fan of SAO which is saying something. I mean most anime ROMCOMs are in a highschool for goodness sakes! You don't see people comparing them with similar romcom animes now do we?

Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Welcome to the world of Madoka Magica. We hope you survive the experience. Seems harmless at first sight doesn't it? Cutesy moe girls with frilly clothes transforming to fight for the world! For Justice! Love! Friendship!

Hah! All that cutesy moe stuff? You're looking in the wrong place because Madoka Magica, is truly terrifying and tragic. Don't believe me? Just go see for yourself. My review is supposed to help you make a decision after all. You mentally prepared? Okay, let's get moving.

The show starts off light, giving viewers the illusion that this was just going to be your average, no-brainer magical girl anime. All the character introductions are made, all revolving around Madoka Kaname and her friends. But one day, a girl she sees in her dream appears in her class as the new transfer student. Homura Akemi is pretty, athletic and cool, but there's something off about her. When Homura asks to be accompanied to the nurses office, Madoka does so (hesitantly).

To her surprise, the new girl knows the way there surprisingly well and she asks Madoka a very weird question. Something about miracles. Madoka doesn't dwell too much on it, but one day after school she hears a voice in her head calling out to her. She manages to rescue a cute animal called Kyuubey. From there, the mysteries start to unravel.

Who is this creature? What does it want? Why is it here?

One thing i love about this anime series is the unpredictable plot twist and how each character propels the story forward. Not only that, the seiyuu's have done an extremely good job in potraying the characters. Every sob and scream seems to tear out your very soul. The OSTs for this anime is incredible. Actually incredible doesn't even begin to cover it. Yuki Kajiura is a genius. How she creates this stuff, i will never know. The battle themes are able to bring up the tension, and the emotional scenes are even more heart rendering when combined.

The animation is done by shaft, which is notorious for finishing their work hours before the deadline, ultimately leading to half-assed scenes. However the release of the Blu-ray seems to have fixed all their mistakes (thankfully). Personally, i love Mami and Homura the most out of all the characters because i became somewhat emotionally attached to them during the show.

Plot: Executed perfectly and more than a little tragic. 10/10

Characters: Personally i found Sayaka somewhat annoying. But she did worm her way into my heart a little. Just a little i swear! 8/10

Animation: The original broadcast wasn't very good but the blu-ray release was great. 9/10

Soundtracks: Yuki freaking Kajiura. Battle themes. Op and ending. Need i say more? 10/10

Overall: Deconstruction of the magical girl genre which is interesting and different. Not for the faint hearted. Also, prepare a box of tissues. 5/5

Mushibugyou

So we all know Shingeki no kyojin. What about Mushibugyou?

The spring animeline up consists of many underrated anime series because they were all overshadowed by Shingeki. Mushibugyou was literally hiding right under their noses.

When i first started watching this, i expected it to be a hit and miss. After all the entire story was going to be set in ancient edo....with characters battling giant insects. I was pretty sure it would be those ridiculous stories with over the top characters shouting out fancy names for their awesome fighting styles. To my amazement, it was all that.....and more.

One thing that really caught my attention was how unexpected the story was. There are two story arcs. The first few episodes were dedicated to introducing the characters, showing how they and the main character's friendship would bloom. You know the usual stuff. Jinbei himself reminded me of a typical shonen character, but surprisingly, he was thankfully imbued with good comedic sense and just a little bit of pervertedness that made mushibugyou interesting and funny.

After all that layman stuff was over, the show started to pick up speed, and got the ball rolling. From there it was a non-stop pleasant experience for me. Samurai anime's are usually overdone so i threw away my common sense and enjoyed the show even more. Another thing about that stood with mushibugyou is their characters. Each one was given a distinct personality and to make things better, their voice actors did an amazing job portraying them.

However, their fight scenes were a little to dramatic for me. Some of their attacks were little too over the top and only several fights were especially good. But if you overlook all the flaws, i can say that Mushibugyou would be close to perfect. It really exceeded my expectations. I am looking forward to rewatching it again soon.

Plot: Great and better than i initially expected. 8/10

Characters: The main characters had an impact on the plot on a very personal level and their past were explored intimately, something that really made the show better. 9/10

Animation: Pretty good. But the character designs threw me off a little, they were abit too comical for my tastes. (Mugai and Kotori hairstyles.)  7/10

Soundtracks: A little repetitive but all openings and endings were pretty amazing. 7/10

Overall: Takes a long while to get to the real plot but you will be rewarded. 3.5/5

Redline

Redline is the most deadliest racing tournament in the whole galaxy. Racer JP is about to compete in Redline, however he finds himself falling for his racing rival; a beautiful woman named Sonoshee. Basically, that is what the entire movie is about, racing and romance. However, despite the typical cliche story line, it wouldn't be too far off for me to say that this movie, KICKS ASS.

This movie is executed perfectly, the story flows smoothly and there is not a dull moment, The impeccable animation coupled with amazing soundtracks will make this movie a eye opening experience. The animation is done by Madhouse with second key animation by Gainax which assures us that this will be an extremely heart pumping, adrenaline filled film. There is nothing much to say, except that you should be experiencing this for yourself, because Redline cannot be put into mere words.

Redline also consists of a large amount of interesting characters, however the information given to us is minimal, but enough to join the show. Only the main characters get their break and show us pieces of their oh so mysterious past. Personally, i wanted to see more of JP's past but sadly i can only take what i get.

Plot: Typical but better than average. 7/10

Characters: Interesting characters but very superficially explained.7.5/10

Animation: Unqiue and eye catching but top notch.  10/10

Recommendation: Suitable for almost anybody. 5/5

Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu

Nowadays, light novel adaptations are becoming increasingly common. This is good, because light novels usually have a deeper story and characters (eg. Kemono Souja Erin, Yahari ore no seishun, Guin Saga). However! This poses some problems because the anime itself may not be able to finish the entire story, and one such product is this; Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsuu.

This series is absolutely amazing, however the abrupt ending only serves to agitate us, and leaves us wanting for more. It is more painful if the anime has been freaking awesome, only to get cut off at the 24th episode or so. Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu is good. But the ending, to put it bluntly, sucks eggs.

Ryner Lute, Ferris Eris and Sion Astal are the main characters in this adventure anime and present to us a wonderful story filled with deep characters and solid pacing. As the series progresses, you can see that these characters begin to show their vulnerable sides, and how they manage to grow into better people. The majority of the show is spent introducing us to other characters and their interactions but once that is over...BAM! The story erupts into a roller coaster ride filled with betrayal, fights and mayhem. That is where the real action starts.

The animation is pretty good, the character's movements are quite natural and the fights are well done and executed fluidly. The backgrounds are eye-popping and more than often catches your eye. Although there are times where the animation teeters of the line of good into bad but it manages to get back on its feet again.
The plot itself is good (it is from a light novel after all) but the ending is disappointing.

Overall, this anime is pretty good and watchable, IF you can endure the abrupt ending. The show is sometimes pretty dark, and there is a good amount of gore and fights for shonen lovers, but there is also subtle traces of romance. I was sometimes thrown off by how fast the atmosphere changes from light and fluffy to dark and tense. I wouldn't really recommend it to any story buffs because of the ending.

Plot: Average as any adventure anime goes.7/10

Characters: Large plethora of different characters but manages to give them good depth. 9/10

Animation: Great but becomes bad towards the final episodes.  8/10

Recommendation: 2.5/5

Kino No Tabi : The beautiful world

Wow. Just wow.

I wish this show had more than 13 episodes. It was so magical and practically sucked me into the show the moment it started. Kino travels the world on her talking motorrad named Hermes and visits different countries with their own set of problems. She doesn't interfere with their problems, however she does it sometimes out of compassion. Kino stays in each country for only three days, and continues on her journey afterwards.

I think that this series has a nice and slow pace, a good episodic series. Kino No Tabi (Kino's journey) is actually a study of humans, with kino showing us their stories in the place of an outsider. It is a very emotional piece, each episode can be vastly different; some on greed. Others on sorrow, stupidity and ego, just to name a few. Each country she visits has their own set of rules implemented by their leaders who think that they are doing the right thing.

Ultimately, this show makes us wonder about life and its meaning but the ending's openness allows our minds to run wild with imagination. There is no solid plot, you could say. But its charm is precisely that. Each episode is independent and doesn't force too much information onto you; just enough to understand what is happening and to enjoy it. That's right, Kino No Tabi's charm is its simplicity.

The animation is not bad, but not good either. I would say that its outstanding story balances the good and the bad in this anime. There are many lessons to be learned from this show; some are subtle while others glare painfully at you. In the first episode, this quote can be used to describe what we are in for while watching this show.

"The world is not beautiful. Therefore it is."

This one line can mean many things, however it is up to interpret it how you want it to. The characters in this show are not deeply developed however they are rather charming in their own way. Kino herself is not the focus of the show, but thankfully a little bit of her past is revealed before the anime becomes to confusing.

This philosophical anime is a great experience for me, and definitely one of a kind. I can say that i throughly enjoyed it. The last episode was pretty sad though. I was really, really sad. Maybe that's a good thing.

Plot: Fantastic. Finally a full score. 10/10

Characters: They were great but very mysterious in many ways; especially Kino.  8/10

Animation: Like i said. It is not good or bad, but pleasant enough for you to enjoy. 6/10

Recommendation: Your anime life is not complete if you never watched this. 5/5

Claymore

After the horrible exams, i have finally finally finished another series.

Firstly let me start by saying that this anime is not your typical shonen anime. The main character, Clare, is part of an organisation which hunts yoma which are also known as demons. Yoma prey on humans and eat their guts and are also capable of transforming into a human in order to take shelter in towns without being suspicious.

The plot is mostly pushed forward by clare and her comrades, as they discover several distasteful secrets about the organization they are working for. However the main point of the story, is Clare's thirst for revenge. When she was younger, clare was saved by the number one claymore of that time, called Teresa of the faint smile. (Bisho no Teresa)

Eveuntually, teresa abandons the organisation to lead a life of peace and fufilment with clare but is hunted down by other claymores for her betrayal. A claymore called Priscilla manages to kill teresa in her moment of weakness and awakens; becoming a one-horned yoma or more easily known as the awakened ones. What surprises me, is that Claymore has a fucking shitty ending. Those who have read the manga would be better off skipping the ending. On the other hand up until the last few episodes, i am glad to say that everything else was amazing.

The story would have been much better if the ending was more thought through, and the soundtracks that play during the anime is perfectly suited in their roles. The fights were exciting and further propelled in intensity by the fact that the characters are not too overly powerful and Clare grows mentally and in skill as the show progresses.

Overall i would say that this is one of the best shonen anime i have seen because it doens't have most of the typical overblown shonen traits. The characters are also well developed and show us Clare's past very early in the anime, making the story seem more heartwarming. I have to disagree with the saying that Raki is one of the major characters because he was completely useless. I'm sure that after watching you would understand my woes.

Plot: Would have given it a nine if not for the ending. 8/10

Characters: One of the good aspects of the anime. Very deeply developed and emotional characters. 9/10

Graphics:  Very good. The landscapes are greatly detailed and so are the characters. 9/10

Recommendation: 4/5

Book: Memoirs of a Geisha

Well i just finished the book: Memoirs of a Geisha today. When i started reading it, i was under the impression that the book was going to be dull and drab. Damn was i wrong. This epic historical was an absolute fantastic read, and i could hardly stop when the plot started picking up halfway through the book.

This fictional book revolves around a character named Sakamoto Chiyo or later given a Geisha stage name of Nitta Sayuri. She was sold off by her father to a teahouse (?) where she is prepared to be trained as a Geisha. Of course, nothing goes as expected and the book shows the hardships she goes through to finally become a geisha. Although, one of the reasons she strives to become one is because of her obsession with a charming man named Mr Haa, who cheered her up when she was a child crying by the roadside.

If Chiyo/Sayuri is the protagonist of this book, the popular but beastly geisha staying with her called Hatsumomo is probably the antagonist of the book. Hatsumomo turns the protag's life into a living hell and manages to get away with it because she was one of the main income earners in the house. She is depicted as a mean, cruel woman who will stop at nothing to get what she wants, even if it meant destroying someone's future in the process. I do hate her so, but i can't deny that their rivalry was what kept the book interesting. It is also clear that Hatsumomo has a big impact on Chiyo/Sayuri's life because even after she leaves, something of hers always comes back to bite her.

Another thing emphasized in this novel is the reality of being a Geisha. They are nothing more then 'high' end prostitues. The only thing different about them is the fact that they have 'dannas', meaning masters. These 'dannas' pay for their expenses, debts and lavish them with expensive gifts. Their virginity is also sold to the highest bidder and this ceremony is called the 'mizukage'. I hope that i didn't spell that wrongly. Haha.

The protagonist finally realizes in her old age that life cannot be controlled; it always moves and washes everything away with it. Happiness and sorrow does not stay for long because we are always moving forward. I glad to have read this novel. It isn't overly dramatic and mushy, instead it shows us that romance in the real world is not as easy as books and movies make it seem.

Woo Hoo!

Finally! After two weeks of blood, sweat and tears (mostly tears), my preliminary exams are over! Unfortunately this also signals the nearing of 'N' levels....but who cares?! Hmph, like hell i'm gonna be sacrificing my relaxing time.

Of course i have to study at some point in my sec 4 life but whatever. Too many animes so little time. Hopefully i'll be able to catch up on some episodes before i'm doomed.

Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu Episode 2

Hmm....The jokes are little but they work. I laughed at some of them because well...their funny!

The airsoft gun action is great. But other than that, nothing seems to be really interesting. The only characters that i think are worthy of attention is Sono the captain of the C3-bu division, and Karila because they are the ones making the matches exciting as hell.

On the other hand, Yura seems to be fading away from the spotlight. The fact that she is potryaed as a meek character only makes it worse because she pales in comparison to the other characters. But i can see the anime trying hard though, giving Yura a talent for guns. Though she hasn't fired a shot yet, i'm hopeful.

Oh dear god i hope it gets better soon.

Moyashimon returns

Well this was disappointing.

The second season is a far cry from the first season, in terms of animation and entertainment. The first two episodes were good, they held the same atmosphere as the first season however i soon started to notice the nitty gritty details which didn't add up.

"Fake it till you make it" feels like the motto for Moyashimon returns, non of the information from the first anime made sense in the second one. It was as if they made a complete overhaul. Unfortunately, the enjoyable story and characters disappeared in the process.

Another thing which irritated me, was the fact that the animation was not the same as the first season. Moyashimon returns were animated in a sort of 'soft' look way, and to be frank Tadayasu looked NOTHING like he was in Moyashimon. To put it bluntly, his original charms was already gone.

I dropped it after the sixth episode, the plot, characters and animation was so damned disappointing that i couldn't go on watching. If you asked me, the biggest mistake here was making a second season. Moyashimon seemed slow and draggy, the jokes were all the same and this made it bland. An anime like this can only make it so far.

Stella Jogakuin Koutou-ka C³-bu Episode 1

Okay, so i finally got off my butt to watch the first episode.

The first few minutes of the show was funny, i found a large grin on my face as the main character did the whole cliche introduction with roses petals and pink. The first two thirds of the show was....boring. I found it difficult to sit through it and ended up fast forwarding.

It is nothing like girls und panzer. Stella Jogakuin has more of a moe cutesy feel and the characters are more light-hearted then those in girls und panzer. It has both its plus and minus points. None of the characters still out (even the main) except for the blond girl and the blue-haired one. They had a slightly more regal feel which attracted me to them.

The action was good, but i swear it could be better. Airsoft guns didn't really capture the entire military 'feel' but they stayed real, which is a good aspect of action scenes because it makes it more believable. Overall, there wasn't really any heart thumping excitement, however i hope that it picks up in the second episode.

Sora no woto

I finally finished another anime series. This one took quite long because i had so much to do! On hindsight this one was lovely, i love it. In contrast to the moe type characters, this anime has a good storyline and a deep meaning.

Kanata enlists herself in the military to learn how to play the bugle. Her inspiration is actually formed from her meeting with a beautiful blond haired woman during the war, who plays her a song which seemingly touches her soul. She meets four other girls, namely Noel, Rio, Kureha and filicita.

They consider her to be a naive innocent girl because she loves the world. The story is set in a post-apocalyptic setting and shows us how the war has spread through out the world. Now humans have been reverted back to their past predecessors, such as being unable to use airplanes. However as the show continues, it is clear that there are many machines and technology that are not familiar with our time.

From what i can tell, this means that the world had evolved so much that humans waged a war on one another, causing the world to suffer. As the show progresses we are also shown that there is no more life in the sea, and that many countries such as Europe have become non-existent and is now known as 'no mans land' due to the desert like climates and barrenness of the land.

Sora no woto shows me that Kanata manages to bond with her teammates and it is also clear that her innocence is 'special' to them, because some of them have been through the war, which has scarred them deeply. I find their own personal stories very interesting and they add to the 'mysteriousness' of the story. I would say that the character development is pretty well done. I also enjoyed the fact that the show was a little dark, the realism of the show made the story more believable.

The backgrounds are beautifully animated, with a large amount of detail. The OSTs are orgasmic, they add so much effect to the show, especially the bugle. Overall i enjoyed it and would probably watch it again without a doubt.

Is Guren no Yumiya a dud?

Hey. So i watched Shingeki no kyojin's full opening PV.

I'm not really too pleased with this. Not that the song was bad of course. After listening to the first 1.30 mins of the opening, i was completely hooked. Unfortunately, at the same my expectations shot sky high. So here i am now, not completely satisfied with the damn thing. The song was so-so, but to me it was very disappointing.

The PV is another thing that irks me. I expected them to create a whole new music video so i was completely caught off guard when i saw that they MIXED things from the anime and freaking combined it with real people. Haven't we learnt enough from live actions adapted from anime? I almost thought that i was watching some kind of fan trailer.

The atmosphere set by the anime in the first 1.30 mins of the song was completely destroyed by the rest of the PV. It was awful. Actually, it was a mix of awful and shock. But either way it was still bad. The song would have been fine by itself, i wouldn't minded if they actually did a lyric video for this. The video ruined the song completely.

Now that i've finished ranting, its time to head over to my happy place right now. Preferably with a computer and some snacks.

The Summer Anime 2013 plan!!

Well here we are again. The spring anime season has ended and thus i welcome the summer anime of 2013! Woo hoo! Looks like studying is going to be difficult now.

I decided to choose several new animes to follow this season. The reason i'm not watching all of them? SCHOOL. My next exam is coming up soon and i haven't even cracked open a single textbook yet. Hate being a student. Sigh. Now presenting the anime i will watch on a daily basis. Maybe i'll review them who knows.

Silver spoon!! Yeah baby! I'm so excited....and guilty that i haven't watched the first episode yet. The manga was fantastic and i hope that the anime would be able to capture the slice of life, romance and agriculture elements. Lets hope for the best.

Blood Lad. This one actually piqued my interest by just looking at the picture. Looks comedyish and yet sort of dark. Looking forward to it! Damn i'm so excited!

Love lab! (Yeahhhhh) This one is probably number one on my must watch list, the idea of having a good yuri anime is strangely enticing. It looks promising so i'll be pissed if it nosedives halfway through the show.

I went anime hunting and found out about this one. Quite a long name, Danganronpa The Animation. It gives me a similar feeling from when i watched Another. Hopefully it will be better. High hopes for this one.

Hmm another military anime. Is this becoming a fad? Nevertheless i'm good, i love girls plus military genres. Wait did that come out wrong?? The name is Stella Jo-Gakuin C3-Bu.

Servant X Service. Doesn't this remind you of Working! Hm weird. meh maybe its just me.

                                             SORRY NO PICTURE

Dog & Scissors. I watched the first episodes, it was pretty entertaining. Funny even. The title caught my eye even before the anime came out, so as you can guess, I'm superrrrr excited.

Free! Iwatobi swim club. This may probably be the most fanservicey anime i have seen in a long, LONG while. Not that i'm complaining though. Its not every day someone decides to make a girl fanservice anime with many possible Yaoi pairings. Whoever made this is a pure fucking genius.

I originally wanted to add somemore to my list, however, the looming shadows of exam prevents me to. Once i pass my 'N' Levels 'm gonna go into Otaku mode 5.0.

Silver spoon anime!!!

Manga cover
Well i am superrrr excited for this anime; Silver spoon.

Just in case you were wondering, Silver spoon revolves around an agriculture highschool freshman, Yugo, Hachiken, who due to his failure at getting into a top school, decides to 'run away' from his home.

He meets teenagers who are mostly heirs to their family businesses, for example Farming and Milk produce. Yugo begins on his journey to discover himself, learns from and teaches those around him. A fresh new perspective about school life.

You must be thinking "Meh this is boringg" but i kid you not, this manga/anime is one of the best at the slice of life genre. It imbues situations, where the consequences can be related to, in reality. Incidentally, this manga has won the Shogakukan Award and the Mangaka of this manga is......dun dun dun.....Arawaka Hiromu!!

Now all those FMA fans can read some more awesomeness.

The horror of 'N' Level Orals

Holy shit. Is it just me or am i going crazy?

Just finished my English oral exam today, and i think i screwed up. It wasn't that bad of a screw up, i still think that my marks will be acceptable BUT this was only because i panicked.

My throat was sqelching so much that i couldn't pronounce one word; Provocative. I was stuttering like a fish out of water. The examiners laughed and i nearly tried to commit seppuku  when they did. Oh fml. I really hate orals. ;_;

Love Lab episode 1 (The age of yuri is here!!!)

I have been waiting for this! FINALLY! Yeahhhhh!

The long awaited first episode is finally out, and it made some pretty good impressions on me.

For one i am really excited because this is supposedly Yuri, and since there are so few pure yuri animes out there i was naturally excited. However, i hope with all my heart that this series will not become another Candy boy, because i would just go crazy.

The moment i started watching this, i had a good feeling about it. And apparently i was right. The first episode had me laughing all the way through, and the progress between the two protagonists is simply amazing.

The jokes were awesome, and the funniest parts were how the main character messes it up so badly; like holding hands. Is it possible to die of laughter and cuteness? I hope this question gets answers in the next episode. I am seriously looking forward to it. :)

EDIT 17/11/14: I have never been more mislead by an anime series, in my entire life. So not Yuri.

Hataraku Maou-sama

Finished another series, Yay for me!

The 13 episode series was certainly long, in more ways than one. When i first started watching it, i found it refreshing. The comedic sense was good and the characters were certainly a blast to watch as they tried to adjust to their new surroundings.

Maou Sadao is actually the Demon overlord Satan from ente isle, who escapes into the modern world with his sidekick, Ashiya. The first few episodes show how maou gets a job at McRonalds (i laughed when i saw it) and Ashiya becomes a 'male-wife' who does the chores in their itty bitty rental house.

Maou bumps into a red headed girl at the traffic light and lends her his umbrella because of the rain. However, the red-headed girl discovers his identity and turns out to be the Hero who drove Overlord Satan into escaping; Emilia. I don't want to spoil the story for you so i will just summarize the first few episodes. Now for my thoughts on this anime.

Although i had to admit it was interesting, the story became stagnant after the fifth or sixth episode as the characters had already adjusted to their new lives. It tried to revive the story by adding several new characters such as Lucifer and Suzuno, but the plot had already went past the point of no return. I enjoyed the fantasy added into this anime because it spiced it up alot. But to my dismay, there wasn't many action scenes and majority of the episodes revolved around Maou working at McRonalds with Chiho or Emilia constantly checking up on him.

The second last episode started out good....before its bubble popped. One thing i had a problem with was the fact that Maou was ridiculously overpowered. I understand that he is the demon overlord but what use is an evil villain if we all know he's going to be defeated so easily? The fights last for about 2 to 4 mins max.

I have mixed feelings for this anime, however it proved to be a delight and a disappointment. My opinion is that they should have at least sent Maou back to ente isle for one episode instead of repeatedly showing the same thing; He goes to work, Emilia stalks him, they fight, he goes back home OR Bad-guy appears, beats him, Maou gets his powers, thrashes them and goes home.

I would say that the fantasy aspect of this series should have been brought out more, because it got boring midway through. HOWEVER, it was still enjoyable but i wouldn't want to watch it again. Though the fights were freaking awesome.

Plot: The story hits a block. Refreshing at first but downhill after five to six episodes. 6/10

Characters: Pretty developed. They managed to explore Emilia's past, it was really touching.  8/10

Graphics: The fights were cool, but there were too little action scenes. The transformation of Maou was kinda overboard but Emilia's archangel form suited her well. 7/10

Recommendation: It was good, but for those who want a good plot, you better try something else. 3/5

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club: Episode 1

Hoo babeh, this one is hotttttt.

If you thought that the trailer showed too much skin, just wait till you see the episode. Overall i'm quite happy with the first episode and surprisingly enough; i quite liked it.

I think that its pretty obvious that this is fanservice for the ladies, i mean why else would you show guys stripping and zooming up on their swimsuits? To tell the truth, i felt kinda embarrassed while watching this. For safety reasons, this show should not be watched by teenage girls/boys when their parents are home, because how would you explain watching half-naked guys on the computer?

I found the story interesting, and the theme for this anime is (obviously) swimming. Sounds weird but i recommend giving it a try. Who knows? You may even become a fan.

I found the time-skips quite choppy though because it confused me a little. I hope they stop doing that in the next episode. Some parts are also quite hilarious but i definitely won't put it down as a comedy genre. On a side note i do admit to waiting feverishly for this anime to be out.

Moyashimon: Tales of agriculture

First off i had no idea that the manga had gotten an anime series, and it happened quite some time ago too. I followed the manga and found it pretty intersting so imagine my surprise (and delight) when i found out there WAS an anime.

I found the microbes really cute when i first saw them and i think it may be one of the few reasons i actually read the manga or watched the anime. I would put this series down as one of those underrated animes which are quirky yet interesting.

I liked the story alot, and really who wouldn't? Tadayasu Sawaki is a university freshman at a Tokyo agriculture university who has a rather unqiue ability; to see microscopic organisms with the naked eye that only can be seen through state-of-the-art microscopes.

Although the story may seem rather bland, i can say that it was interesting and quirky enough to keep me watching. It had only 11 episodes which was a complete walk in the park for me, and happily enough there is a second season called Moyashimon returns.

Plot: Some episodes were albeit boring but the rest were good. 7.5/10

Characters: They were different in their own way, and they were individually developed. 8/10

Graphics: The microbe's design was just extremely cute and it was portrayed in a fun way. 7.5/10

Recommendation: Although it was interesting, some may find it rather boring but hopefully you will try it out before brushing it off. 2/5

Ore no imouto konna ni kawaii wake ga nai S2

Alright so my close shave (maybe even too close) with the laws of copyrights made me search like crazy for this picture. I've seen it on quite alot of pages so i'm sure its alright.

Alright peeps, this is the second anime that i have finished on a weekly basis which has made me very happy. I found the second season rather well made, and enjoyed it immensely. I hadn't expected it to be this good.

Kyosuke's relationships between kirino and the other girls really improved within the short span of 12 episodes for the second season. Rather than going all the way with the incest route that they could have easily taken (title speaks for itself) the producers really went all the way with the 'harem'.

The second season was definitely more suspenseful then the first and i loved the story more and more as it progressed. Some parts were really surprising and defied my expections. Great job Aniplex and A-1 pictures! The graphics were great too!

I also found it funny how kyosuke was stuck in increasingly embarrassing situations (being caught by their parents) and my favorite one was when he rode a girlishly decorated bicycle to help kirino make it on time for the merumeru stardust witch event. Wearing a suit.I laughed my ass off.

Some of the episodes were sort-of predictable though but who cares. On a side not i especially love the tension between Kuro neko and Ayase. It was hilarious to see both 'dark' forces clash!

Plot: Love it so. Much better than S1 but that is to be expected.10/10

Characters: Need i say more? 8/10

Graphics: Wonderful. As good or better than the first of Oreimo. 9/10

Recommendation: Though the idea of incest might put you off, i can assure that this anime is top notch. While you're at it, go watch the first season! 4/5

Jormungand: Perfect order

Greatest ending that i have seen in years. Finally a anime which actually ends properly.

Alright so this is the second season of Jormungand, and i must admit that it is much better than the first season. My kinda anime! Now it is one of my favourites!

So the second season introduces to us a new array of characters, most of them obviously deadly and complete nutjobs. But of course it makes the show interesting so who gives a flying damn. The first few episodes were especially good, i won't give you any spoilers but i can say that it will definitely make your nose bleed. Hohoho!

Moving on, this season gradually begins to reveal koko's ambitions and i found it jaw-dropping. Simply awesome!! The characters are doing an even better job at making me laugh, cry and grip my bunny in excitement. I don't want to divulge any information so i'll make this quick.

Plot: Outstanding, i love it so much. 10/10

Characters: They are whacko, and their pasts are revealed. Who am i to complain? 8/10

Graphics: Same as the first season. 8/10

Recommendation:  I don't care if you hate violence. Just watch it. 5/5

Jormungand

Hey hey i finished another anime. I love this one.

Alright so i completed another series, this one is notably exciting and i'm on a roll.

The story revolves around Jonathan Mar or Jonah for short, who is hired by an arms dealer Koko Hekmatyar. The first episode reveals that jonah hates arms dealers because his parents were killed by state-of-the-art weapons used by the attackers. As the show goes on, i could see that his icy demeanor is slowly broken down by koko, helped by her personal elite bodyguards.

I would say that the characters make this anime more enjoyable and surprisingly enough, it has its own brand of humor and comedy. The jokes aren't really over used, and i kept laughing when the team realized that Jonah had no education at all! Their reactions were first class!

Another thing i love about this anime is the action scenes, it can be extremely exciting most of the time, but also horrifyingly suspenseful. I love how valmet fights, her knife action always makes me squeal like a fan-girl! Koko is also another one of my favorite characters, she seems mysterious and aloof but it is apparent that she loves her team very much and treats them like her family. I kinda guessed that she was seriously dangerous, and i think she has another motive for selling weapons.

Its time for a hunt boys.
Anyway, the graphics are really good and i say this because the gun fights and knife action is amazingly fluid. Awesomness overload. The way their feelings are shown through their faces is also great, a double bonus for me! Whoop whoop!

Plot: Interesting. 8/10

Characters: They make the show better, and they are understandably awesome. Respect. 10/10

Graphics: Fantastico! 8/10

Recommendation: If you liked black lagoon, you'll definitely like this one. 5/5

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru

Hey y'all. This series was a nice watch, and it is the first one i finished on a weekly episode basis.

Words that i would use to describe this anime would be cynical, sarcastic, harsh and truthful. I enjoyed it because it was totally different from other animes, and i found it a nice change of pace.

The main character, Hikigaya Hachiman is a isolated loner with no friends who was forced to join a club called the 'neighbors club'. In fact only he and a girl known as the renowned ice-queen, Yukino Yukinoshita are the only members in this club. Both have their own cynical views on their highschool life and are loners, but it is later revealed that they went through unpleasant experiences during their early years thus making them albeit twisted.

The neighbors club take on requests from students in their school which ranges from helping them to bake cookies, detective work and etc.

I especially love how this anime delivers the truth of how relationships work and how hachiman plays the bad guy most of the time. Truthfully i feel kinda sad for him because nobody realizes how much he does for them because he usually solves their problems in a way that only he can solve them. Usually they end up hating him.

The last episode nearly had me in tears because i saw that he was actually broken by what we call 'society' and its norms, forcing him to take on a harsher, more crude personality to cope with how horribly he is treated. He uses this as a defense mechanism.

I can say with a straight face that i want a friend/mentor like him. Hikigaya hachiman doesn't bother to sugarcoat his words, and delivers all who watch this anime his strange theories on relationships backed up by his whacked logic. You can choose whether or not to take his words seriously, but personally i do. I find that the stuff he says is true to a certain extent, but i won't swear by it though.

Keke i think this may be my favourite anime of this season.

Hachiman and Yukino figuring out how to bake. Lol cute.
Plot: Just like any other school life anime, but it felt more interesting because of the characters. 7/10

Characters: I love hikigaya and yukino, they liven up the series by a large margin and i enjoy their own brand of humor. 8/10

Recommendation: 5/5

Black Lagoon (season 1&2)

I feel so guilty for not watching anime recently. By recently i mean 3 days, thus i suffered from anime withdrawal. I happened to come across one of the animes which i watched when i was younger.

The first i time i watched this series i didn't find it all that amazing. But rewatching it made me think of it in a new light. I understood the plot much more and somehow started liking the violence and bloodbaths this show provided for me. The action is probably the best i've seen so far. Best as in giving me a heartpounding experience and making me squeal in delight as the characters kick some butt.

This story starts out with Rokuro Okajima, a salaryman in Japan who is sent to deliver an important package under the instructions of his bosses. Unfortunately, the trip was hijacked by pirates who were hired to steal that package. And even worse for him, they take him hostage. Meanwhile his superiors decide that the best way to deal with this unwanted situation is to dispose of the package, along with their worker.

They send men from ex special forces to eliminate the pirates with him on board. He decides to help them as he feels some sort of a connection to these people. The crew of lagoon (boat), Dutch the captain, Benny the brains and the notorious as well as dangerous Revy- also known as two hands. Referring to him as Rock, they opt to follow through with a insane plan to kill their pursuers.

After coming out in one piece they arrive at the dock where they give the package to their client. Rock is  then approached by his boss to go back to Japan. Rock has a change of heart after the blood pumping experience with the crew of black lagoon and returns with them instead, to the fictional town of Roanpur.

Although some parts of the anime may be gruesome, i think its a good classic which never fails to bring up that prehistoric side in all of us, the side which just loves cruelty and bloody violence. If you are looking for a action piece, this is definitely the one for you.

Dangerous but sexy gals of Black lagoon
The fights are not just limited to guns, there is also a fair amount of different killing weapons such as knives, chainsaws, blowtorches and even bare hands. Revy's cutlass action is awesome and Balalaika is the scariest woman i have ever seen. Period.

The woman i admire the most is obviously Revy, though i second Balalaika. Okay let's admit it, revy is a sexy beast and have you heard her logic? Respect dudes, respect. Oh and have you seen Eda's blue eyes?

Plot: 7/10

Characters: 8/10

Graphics: 9/10

Recommendation: Highly recommended. 4/5

Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari

Hmm  have i been watching too much anime recently?.....NOPE lets continue!

So many pretty girls!

So i decided to watch some harem anime this time, and i can say that i feel delighted after watching this. I love the mix of fantasy and fighting action but hey! The romance is pretty good too! This is actually a spin-off from Tenchi Muyo! but i decided to just watch this.

This anime is actually rated R17 but before you go running to your burrow or calling me a pervert, this anime isn't really that bad. Sure there are some nude scenes and maybe a little (or alot) sexual innuendo here and there....but i've seen worse in some of the PG13 ecchi animes. Compared to that, this one is like wearing bloomers down at the beach.

Okay, maybe that was a bad visual but you get my point.

Kay moving on.

This series is about a boy who is seemingly transported from an alternate world into the current one. There he receives orders to assassinate the Queen....who is a twelve year old girl. Riding on a battle machine called "Seikishi" he attacks the ship (floating island?) along with his mysterious captors who promised to send him back if he managed to kill the queen.

However they fail when a hidden body guard disrupts their plan, and as the boy, Kenshi, corners the queen, he gives up because he refuses to kill someone. The queen becomes interested in him, and takes him in.

Well thats the lowdown, but i love how this anime manages to throw in comedy that is genuinely funny. Not like other crappy fanservice animes which just make jokes out the girl's chest and or butt.

The plot is also quite good and i found that it became more enjoyable after the first few episodes. Not to mention that they also have some really hot girls. Hey, seeing several pretty faces won't hurt. And while we are also on the subject, i proclaim my self as a fan of mexiah and lashara!

Plot: Interesting and funny. But most episodes were about him adjusting to life at the other world. Bah who cares i love it. 8/10

Characters: Too many characters but many of them are pretty cute. Unfortunately, doesn't explain much of Kenshi's past. Kenshi is so goddamned cute and innocent! 7/10

Graphics: Love how the seikishi is drawn. 7/10

Recommendation:  5/5

Well see you next time Zamasu!

Kotonoha no Niwa

A short film made by Makoto Shinkai (5cm per second, The children who chase lost voices and the place promised in our early days.) Sheesh this man is a genius.

Took another persons picture without permission. I bow my head in apology. I truly am sorry. Heh now we all know i will never just take a picture of google. Oh my god my heart nearly stopped. No pic here go search for it on your own people.

A boy who enjoys making shoes goes to a park during the rainy season. There he encounters a woman who was drinking beer and eating chocolate. When she is bout to leave, she smiles and recites the answer to a tanto (japanese literature), and leaves saying that they may be able to meet on another rainy day.

I have no qualms about the story, i think that it is well written and managed to bring out my emotions within the 46 minute timeframe. It is interesting in its own way, and grabbed my attention because of the chemistry between the main protagonists.

The part i enjoyed the most was the ending. It was so heartfelt and emotional and it made me tear up a little. :)

And as expected of the graphics, they are fantastically detailed. What caught my eye was how detailed the little things were; such as the raindrops and the shoes. They played a subtle role in the movie.

Plot: Pretty good. 8/10

Characters: The movie was too short to go deeper into their pasts but they showed just enough to keep me guessing. 7/10

Graphics: Pretty good. 8/10

Recommendation: 3.5/5 (some people may find it boring)

After watching Anohana i think i became a magnet to depressing yet joful animes. Oh woe is me.

Anohana: The flower we saw that day

I decided to watch this.....and now consider it the most emotional anime ever. Ever.

I don't even remember how many times i cried during the 11 episodes. All of them were so touching and heartbreaking. My words can't possibly describe this Anime. So i'll just stick to reviewing.

The last episode was especially heartbreaking, and i don't care if you like anime or not. Just go and watch this. I kind of feel sorry for the people who say that anime is stupid because they will never get to experience what i did.

Thats how good this anime really is. And i'm so excited for the movie!!

Plot: Simply outstanding. Top on my list for romance and friendship.10/10

Characters: They are lovable in their own way, and as the show went on, i got to see how much menma really affected them. 9/10

Recommendation level: 5/5

Go freaking watch it! The heck are you waiting for??

Natsuiro Kiseki

I have completely fallen in love with this Anime and its characters! Pity it has only 12 episodes.

Hehe this is my ipad wallpaper.
The title caught my eye when i was searching for some friendship animes, so i decided to give it a try. The first episode was dramatic and really caught my attention because it didn't start out with a cliche scene of the main character running late. From there i was completely hooked and was sucked into the plot.

"At a Shinto shrine in Shimoda, there is a large rock. It is said that if four close friends gather around the rock and all wish for the same thing, that wish will come true. As four friends, Natsumi, Saki, Yuka and Rinko, gather around the rock like they used to in their childhood, they soon find the rock can indeed grant people's wishes. With only a short amount of time before Saki is due to transfer schools, the girls spend a summer filled with magic."
            -Wikipedia source

To sum up the entire show, its basically about four best friends who had grown up together however one of them; Saki is moving to an island near Tokyo. She avoided telling them at first and refused to state her reasons when questioned by Natsumi, one of her best friends.

It led to a quarrel and made the other two, Rin and Yuka wish on a supposedly 'magical' rock which were said to grant wishes. Also, the first episode showed a backstory of the four friends who wished upon the rock to become Idols like their favourite group; Four seasons.

Natsumi and Saki were bluffed into appearing at the rock when Rin fabricated a text message exclaiming that Yuka had fainted. After the being caught red-handed by natsumi and saki, they lean on the rock Yuka says, "I wish we could fly."

You can guess what happens from there.

I enjoyed this show mainly because of how they managed to overcome hardships through friendship and although it may sound cheesy, i can assure you that this is not your run of the mill anime. It is actually quite rare to see this sort of plot executed perfectly, because this types of shows are usually for fanservice (based on experience) and has no solid plotline.

The characters mature as their summer together begins to end. They revisit their childhood and try to find out what it actually means to be friends. A beautiful heartwarming story.

Overall i found it cute and enjoyed it more then i expected. I would categorize this as an underrated anime. On a side note the characters in the show are voiced by Sphere,

Plot: Not complex but unpredictable and leaves you wanting more. 9/10

Characters: I coin the term opposites attract for this. Hot headed Natsumi, cool beauty Saki, quiet Rin and bubbly Yuka! I find that they are the main ones who propell the plot forward and make it even more enjoyable. 8/10

Graphics: The animation in this one is pretty good, and i like how the characters were given tiny little details to make them more 'themselves' which sets them apart from other characters. 7/10

Music: I searched youtube for the ost and heard a few. 7/10

NOTE: I am going to including the music aspect for all the reviews from now on because i lack expertise in this area. I don't want to give half-assed reveiws on one component of the anime.

Recommendation: 4/5

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann (Do not read if you are a fan)

Alright so i tried watching Gurren Lagann and made it up to episode 9.

Sad to say, i didn't enjoy it much. To begin with mecha animes are not really my cup of tea, and i apologize if i offended any Gurren Lagann fans who stumbled onto my review.

Well the first few episodes were great and i found it mighty interesting so i continued watching. But around the 6 episode or so i started to get weary of it. The same gags were being used over and over, and it seemed to center around Kamina more then Simon. But that wasn't what bothered me the most.

Firstly, i found it rather tiring to watch kamina fight all the gunmen which appeared because it would be the same running gag over and over. He would yell something outrageous about himself being the best and proceed to charge into the fight with no plan whatsoever. And his teamwork with Simon was practically ignored because Kamina got the credit for it. Honestly speaking, it had started to irritate me.

Secondly the characters of the show seemed to gather around Kamina and leave Simon in the dust. Most of the female characters they came across were fawning over him, Yoko included. Now i don't hold anything against Kamina because i agree that he was a pretty cool character, BUT they put him in the spotlight so much that after he died (spoiler) , the characters who loved him started bashing on Simon saying how useless he is and that he is unfit to be a leader.

I would say that this anime really disappointed me because my expectations were pretty high after i read several reviews on it saying how awesome and epic it was. Sadly, i got tired of the recurring fights and gags. I was also expecting a much better storyline, not just mindless battles with the enemy.

In the end people have different preferences, and this wasn't really my type, so to speak. Well one man's treasure may be another man's trash treasure and vice versa.

Shinsekai Yori

I have no words....i think i'm going to cry.

A complex story with heartbreaking twists and turns, and the ultimate question arises. Would you believe in what was taught? Or would you change your fate with your own hands?

I just finished this anime and i can almost feel my heart bursting with all sorts of emotions. This is one of the most truly complex and imaginative series of 2012. Every episode will leave you at the edge of your seat, and i can tell you that something. Always. Happens.

I love how they make use of soundtracks in the anime, and if the scenes didn't evoke much emotions in you, the music certainly will. An absolute must watch for any anime fan, with a solid plot and beautiful animation, you will never ever forget this series.

In a world where misbehaving children are annihilated, what would you do? I believe that this show deeply explores the human minds. Tyranny, greed, fear and love. You want it, Shinsekai yori has it.

And amidst all this, the children of group 1 mature as they encounter various obstacles which threaten their lives, and their friendship grows stronger. Same sex relationships are also a vital part of this story and i think it is also similar to the relationships of same-sex couples in modern Japan.

There are many twists to this story, one of which is the relationship between humans and human-subspecies called queerats. How far would you go to ensure your species' survival?

I really enjoyed the 25 episodes and i wished it was longer! I have also read many reviews for this anime on other blogs such as THE ANIME MAN (wordpress) and etc. I can say that they helped me truly enjoy this series. Although it was confusing and sometimes heart-wrenching, i do not regret watching it. It is definitely an underrated anime.

Most people drop it after seeing the elements of yaoi and yuri embedded in several episodes, but i will push you to continue because you must not miss this. This is also one of those depressing animes which waste no time in enveloping you in its dark atmosphere. I nearly cried after watching a few of the episodes.

Now onto the review!

I ship them so much it hurts!! Go go Maria and Saki!!

Plot: Mind-boggling and fantastic. 10/10

Characters: They mature as the show goes on, and start to change in ways no one expected. Maria and Saki's childhood is really really bittersweet. ;_; 8/10

Graphics: I don't know much about animation nut this one was really top notch. 9/10

Music: They help the plot move and can either envoke joy, fury or sadness. 10/10

I would like to confess that i did cry a little during the last episode. *coughs awkwardly*. I feel like crying again whenever i think of Saki and maria. Episode 16 that scene!! ;_;

Noooo i'm gonna cry!!!!

Saki

Aww yeah! Finished another anime series! I'm onna roll baby! :)

Anyway, i just completed the anime Saki which consists of 25 episodes. I must say that i really enjoyed this anime even though it is mostly shonen. I think the subtle hints of yuri helped me survive! Naw i'm just kidding, the storyline was pretty good. Butt the male character is completely useless. Except for the fact that he gives us some sexy views of Nodoka and several lewd thoughts about her, he's useless.

After watching this i have the sudden urge to go learn mahjong and pull out all those sick moves that Saki and Nodoka did! Seriously! During matches shit was hitting the ceiling!!

I didn't think i would enjoy this to this extent and quite pleased after finishing it. It was exactly what i needed after Girls und Panzer. Although it was a pretty good anime, i want to point out that almost all the episodes were about the preliminary matches where the Kiyosumi highschool mahjong club tried to qualify for the Nationals, but i still recommend watching it.

The part which really put me off was the last two episodes. It was completely fillerish and though they showed a brief background story on Saki's sister, it wasn't nearly as exciting as the other episodes. Anddddd the damned ending made me freaking curious!!

Well now onto the review.

Plot: Simple and easy to follow. Funny at times. But easily predictable. Nevertheless it is enjoyable. 7/10

Characters: After watching, i totally ship SakiXNodoka!!! But i'm torn because the characters background were not really elaborated although they showed each other's circumstances about why they had to win. I guess its so-so. 7/10

Graphics: Pretty good. i found it pleasing to the eye. I like how the characters were drawn. 7/10

Music: thrilling. Love it! But i thought it could have done better. 7/10

I don't regret watching it!! One of the few good sports animes out there.

Girls und Panzer

Yohalo! dofu's back from the dead guys! Since exams are over, i decided to take up the long awaited anime, Girls und Panzer!

I really enjoyed this series alot, for several reasons. One of which is because i love anime's with only girls! Good lord i sound like a pervert.

This is so fucking moe.
Anyway, i really enjoyed it mainly because this anime manages to integrate school life, tanks, cuteness and action all in one! Whoever made this is a freakin genius. I would also like to add that this anime is very popular in Japan and topped the Oricon charts.

Well basically its a rather enjoyable series, although the plot line is easy to follow but it is also very predictable. But no matter! After the first episode your cliche thoughts will be flying out of the window! The graphics are awesome and the tanks are very detailed and look absolutely amazing.

Another downside to this anime is that it has too many characters and if you are bad at remembering names like me, you'll probably give up at the 3rd episode or so. The last few episodes had a few rag-tag characters thrown in but it didn't affect the plot that much. Fret not! Because none of these details will prevent you from enjoying this series! Now onto the review!!

Plot: Simple but interesting. An anime which perfectly fits the quote "Its not the destination that counts, its the Journey." Love it! 8/10

Characters: These highly lovable characters bring the show to new heights. Unfortunately, their background is not really clear with the exception of several characters like Miho and Hana. Their teamwork is great too! So i'm just gonna be a little generous for this one! 8/10

Graphics: Truly deserves some praise. 10/10

Music: I like the fact the they had several languages mixed in and who can forget the anglerfish dance! 7/10

Highly recommend watching this series if you're into comedy/action/moe girls! I love them, their so cute!

If you watch the video i linked, you will know how enjoyable this anime is!!

Yaaayyyy exams are over!!

With the passing of exams, my life just became so much easier! But i'm kind of nervous about the results though. Anddddd i have to confess that i didn't study.....

On the bright side i have tons of free time to watch anime now!! Yipee! ;)

Unfortunately for my lazy ass, N level is drawing closer and everybody is preparing to study their butts off. Sad to say that i have to study hard during the June holidays. :( Oh i hate being a student.

[C] Money of soul and possibility control

Hehe i finshed another anime series. Well i'm short on time because its exam period so i apologize if it seems too short.

Very epic anime, and the storyline is completely original. It wasn't adapted from any manga. I think that's part of the charm. Now onto the reveiw.

Plot: I would say its very interesting but it can be hard to follow. Some episodes were pretty confusing.7/10

Characters: I quite admire Kimimaro, he sacrifices so much in the show, and learns from his mistakes. I also find Mashu quite cute. 8/10

Graphics: One of the few animes which really has some awesome backgrounds. The financial district is simply mind-boggling. 9/10

Music: I warn you, you will be addicted. 9/10

Well there you have it! On a side note, the opening was sung by  Nico touches the walls, and i must say that it is pleasing to the ears.

Gah so moe!

The Princess and the Pilot

Once again, my love of anime is sparked. Another beautiful movie is engraved into my mind.

Charles is very nicely drawn. So cool!

I have to admit, my first impression of this movie when i saw the poster was "I think its going to be somewhat boring." BUT after watching it my thoughts are completely blown out of the water.

The fact that i didn't have to skip over any part of the movie is evidence enough for me. ;)

I also have to say that the backgrounds in this movie was MIND BLOWING. I have never seen the night sky animated so meticulously, and the plane fights are so fluid it is like watching magic in action.

Now onto the review.

Plot: Simple, straightforward but compelling. But i wished there were more action. Almost an hour was just based on how they met each other and how they escaped the enemy.  7/10

Characters: A little vague, and i didn't like how Charles didn't end up with her. I know its their 'reality' and bla. I found their personalities too soft but it added to the charm of the movie. 7/10

Graphics: Awesome. "But-t it...." No no arguing. Its awesome and thats that. 9/10

Music: Soothing and heartwarming. Love it 8/10

Paprika

Another mind-blowing Satoshi Kon production.

After watching this movie, i had to slowly come down to earth. That's how good it was.

Well basically this movie involves moving across the boundaries of dreams and reality using a technological breakthrough; DC mini.

Atsuko and her other personality, paprika, are thrown into a bizarre situation when the DC mini is stolen by an unknown perpetrator, who uses it to terrorize people's dreams. The concept of Yin and Yang is also shown in the last part of the movie. Through in a police detective and ta da!

I feel that this movie shows us that we can never escape from reality, and sooner or later we have to face our true feelings. No matter how terrible or wacky it is. Well that's just my opinion though.

Now onto the review.

Plot: Nobody would have ever thought of this. Only Satoshi Kon. Very unique story. 8/10

Characters: They were interesting and i absolutely love paprika. She's so cute. However only Konakawa's past was revealed, the rest were just left in the dark. 7/10

Graphics: Just amazing. When reality merged with dreams, it was a sight to behold. Very fluid. 9/10

Music: This one may be different for others, but it sounded very sassy and sexy. Just me i guess? 8/10

I couldn't really classify this as romance. But i think it veers more to the thriller/horror, fantasy and sci-fi side. A definite must watch.
